Gorosito spoke for the first time as San Lorenzo’s manager on Tuesday in the club’s press room, amid a last-place finish in Argentina’s Liga Profesional and a decimated squad. The coach, who arrived without his staff or executives, admitted the difficulty of the moment: “It’s a huge joy to be back at San Lorenzo. The moment is very, very tough.”
Among his most striking remarks, Gorosito explicitly called for Lammens and Tinelli to return: “Tinelli should come in. Lammens should come back. Everyone needs to help pull San Lorenzo out of where it is.” TV host and businessman Tinelli responded: “I’m at his disposal and at San Lorenzo’s, as always. I’ll call him.”
San Lorenzo’s crisis and key absences
The club faces a critical situation with seven players sidelined by the coaching staff, though it was later clarified all will return to training on Wednesday. Among the names mentioned - Guzmán Corujo, Mauricio Cardillo, Francisco Perruzzi, Franco Lorenzón, Diego Herazo, Gonzalo Alassia and Gregorio Rodríguez - are players tied to the exit of former manager Gustavo Álvarez.
Gorosito made it clear the decision was the club’s: “They’re a pure and exclusive club decision. I’m an employee who must comply.” He also revealed the squad only has four central defenders: Ezequiel Herrera, Alejo Córdoba, Agustín Pérez and Juan Cruz Crisafulli (contract until December), plus Daniel Herrera, who suffered a ligament rupture in October 2025.
Reinforcements and the team’s future
The manager warned about the team’s backbone: “If Gill and Cuello leave, the backbone is basically gone.” Gill, a key player, has been scouted by European clubs after his strong World Cup, while Cuello is being pursued by Monterrey from Mexico.
On his salary, Gorosito said he’ll earn 30% of his last club contracts and that 80% of the squad will earn more than him. “Do whatever you want with the politics, but we have to pull the club out of this dire situation,” he stressed.
