San Lorenzo de Almagro have announced an optional special bonus for members attending Sunday's derby against Boca Juniors. Proceeds from the fee will be used to pay outstanding security costs from the previous administration, the club confirmed.
The bonus is priced at 10,000 pesos for standing areas and 15,000 pesos for seated sections. Members can purchase it voluntarily via the club's official app, while for invited guests the charge is mandatory and included in the ticket price.
The measure requires ratification by the club's Directive Commission, which will meet this Thursday at 16:00 at the headquarters on Avenida La Plata. The same session will also address first-team signings and departures, as well as renewal proposals for youth players Branco Salinardi and Cristian Gallardo.
According to the club, "the money raised will be used to pay four outstanding security operations from the previous management." The information was first unofficially reported late Monday, sparking immediate discontent among fans on social media, before the club made it official early Tuesday.
The match against Boca, scheduled for September 20, finds San Lorenzo sitting tenth in the Liga Profesional with 11 points from nine games. The team is coming off a 1-1 draw against Independiente last weekend, with a goal from Facundo Farías, and will look to improve their home form, where their last result was a 1-0 win over Talleres. The team has registered 90 goal minutes over the last five matchdays. Their next fixture after the derby is an away trip to Sarmiento de Junín.
The last meeting between the two sides, in March, ended in a 1-1 draw at La Bombonera. With Boca currently fifth in the table, the derby represents a key opportunity for San Lorenzo to close the eight-point gap to leaders Instituto. Thursday's Directive Commission meeting will be the formal step to implement the bonus and move forward on other urgent squad matters.
