San Lorenzo de Almagro's board of directors approved new professional contracts for Ruben Insua's coaching staff and several youth players on Wednesday, while confirming the settlement of a major loan from vice president Juan Manuel Campos. The meeting at Avenida La Plata addressed key administrative, sporting, and financial matters for the club.
The board formalised the professional ties for manager Ruben Insua's backroom team. Contracts were also approved for young players Gonzalo Alassia, Juan Cruz Avaca, and Román Baigorria. Departures were sanctioned for goalkeeper Orlando Gill and the staff of former coach Néstor Gorosito, both under the Libre Deuda arrangement.
A highlight was the approval and subsequent cancellation of a 500 million peso loan provided by vice president Juan Manuel Campos. The short-term, interest-free credit had been used to cover employee salaries in September. Campos himself addressed the matter. "It has already been settled, with the signing of the corresponding Libre Deuda," the director said.
Further agreements and moves
The commission also sent a project to amend the Supporters' Clubs Regulation to the Assembly and approved new subcommittees for Roller Hockey and Handball. Details of the 2024/25 Balance and the Budget for the coming season were presented.
On the sporting front, the loan of forward Facundo Farías to a club in Mendoza was made official. The deal includes a $200,000 fee, a repurchase clause in San Lorenzo's favour, and purchase options, lasting until December 2027. The player had previously renewed his contract with the club until the end of 2028. Farías is nursing a minor injury. "The forward suffered a mild sprain in his left knee and is not yet ruled out for the match at the Pedro Bidegain," the player said regarding Saturday's game.
This administrative backdrop comes during an upturn in form for the first team. San Lorenzo de Almagro sits ninth in the Liga Profesional Argentina with 17 points from 5 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses. The team is on a three-match winning streak, including a 2-1 victory over Estudiantes de La Plata last time out, and prepares to host Newell's Old Boys this Saturday, October 24. The visitors are sixth in the standings, setting the stage for a high-stakes clash at the Nuevo Gasómetro, where tickets are now on sale.
Beyond the senior side, the youth setup is also delivering positive news. The reserve team won the away classic against Racing and is aiming for a top-eight finish. Also, the club's academy was ranked in a privileged worldwide list recognising top talent producers. This Saturday, October 31, the Ciudad Deportiva will host a team swimming competition. The club also launched a campaign for members with a message from the president, strengthening ties with the supporters during a period of decisive action both on and off the pitch.
