San Lorenzo de Almagro snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory away to Estudiantes de La Plata on Tuesday with a 95th-minute winner from Facundo Gulli. The late triumph at the Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi earned the Cyclone three key points in matchday 13 of the Torneo Clausura 2026, solidifying their 10th place in the Liga Profesional Argentina with 14 points from 12 games, having recorded four wins, two draws, and six losses.
The match started poorly for the visitors. Referee Sebastián Martínez Beligoy awarded Estudiantes a penalty in the 14th minute, which Edwuin Cetré converted with a low shot inside the left post. San Lorenzo pushed for an equaliser and came close in the 24th minute when a Facundo Farías strike rattled the crossbar. The reward came just before halftime. In the 44th minute, Guzmán Corujo powered home a header from an Agustín Ladstatter cross to level the score.
A heart-stopping finish
The second half was a tense affair with chances at both ends. San Lorenzo manager Leandro Romagnoli turned to his bench, introducing Alan Salas for Ladstatter in the 58th minute. The game seemed destined for a draw until the fifth minute of stoppage time. Salas, who had just come on, set up Facundo Gulli, who cut inside from the right side of the box and fired a left-footed shot into the top left corner past Mariano Andújar. "Gooooool! Estudiantes de La Plata 1, San Lorenzo 2." the official broadcast described.
The win keeps San Lorenzo in 10th place in the Liga Profesional standings, with 14 points from 12 games. The team is now on a three-match winning streak, a positive run they will aim to extend next Friday, October 24th, when they host 8th-placed Newell's Old Boys at the Gasómetro. This result provides a timely boost as the Cyclone looks to climb the table in the coming weeks. This season, the team has scored five goals and conceded eleven, giving them a goal difference of -6. Despite the good run of three wins and two losses in their last five matches, the team trails leaders Instituto Cordoba by 15 points in the title race.
