San Lorenzo de Almagro have completed the signing of midfielder Nahuel Farias to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season. The 28-year-old arrives on a three-year contract after overcoming a lengthy and severe injury ordeal.
The club has not disclosed the fee for the operation, which has been described as a substantial figure. Farias suffered two anterior cruciate ligament tears in the same knee just ten months apart, the most recent in March 2025. His rehabilitation process, which concluded at the end of pre-season, was exhaustive and received final approval from San Lorenzo's medical department.
"It was a very hard road, but I never lost faith," the player stated regarding his recovery. His addition aims to bring versatility and experience to a midfield in need of greater creativity. San Lorenzo currently sit 12th in the Liga Profesional with 7 points from six matches, having scored only two goals.
The context for the signing
Farias's arrival comes after an irregular start for Leandro Romagnoli's side, who are on a positive run of two matches unbeaten. Forward R. Auzmendi is the squad's top scorer with six goals in fourteen appearances. The next challenge is a visit to leaders Instituto Córdoba on September 1st, a key match to try and close the six-point gap to the summit.
Farias is seen as an option to play both centrally and out wide, adding ball-winning ability. His signing represents a clear vote of confidence from the coaching staff in a player aiming to rediscover his best form at the Nuevo Gasómetro.
