San Lorenzo de Almagro is grappling with a major financial setback after a multi-million peso embargo was secured by former head coach Damián Ayude.

The tenth-placed side in the Liga Profesional Argentina issued a statement acknowledging the embargo. The leadership, led by Marcelo Culotta, said it would continue to inform about the case's evolution.

Ayude was dismissed on March 3 following a 5-2 loss to Defensa y Justicia. His contract, however, had been renewed and extended until December 2026 just a month prior in February, with a salary increase granted by then-president Sergio Costantino. He managed 29 matches in total, recording 10 wins, 10 draws and 9 losses.

After his departure, the coach, now in charge of Barracas Central, stated: "Me voy dolido" (I leave hurt). The club had previously issued a farewell message praising his work. "He was the person who took charge of the squad at a very difficult time for the institution, who knew how to develop our youth players both in the Reserve and First teams, and, above all, showed respect and affection for the Club at all times," the official March statement said.

This embargo adds to a complex financial picture for San Lorenzo, which includes an estimated liability of 67 million dollars, transfer bans, and other active legal claims. The team now faces a key fixture away to third-placed Defensa y Justicia on October 3, looking to improve a recent run of form that reads one win, two draws and two losses from the last five outings.
