San Lorenzo de Almagro will have their away fans back in the stands this Saturday after a five-month absence. The match against Defensa y Justicia, for the 11th round of the Torneo Clausura, kicks off at 14:45 at the Norberto 'Tito' Tomaghello stadium under a detailed security operation.
The Agency for the Prevention of Violence in Sport (Aprevide) outlined the measures for the fixture. It will deploy 250 police officers, 38 private security agents, 40 Utedyc workers and three ambulances. Stadium gates will open from 12:45, Aprevide explained. San Lorenzo supporters must enter via Avenida Novak and Avenida Humahuaca, presenting a physical ticket and their national ID.
The agency also listed prohibited items. Pyrotechnics, bottles, flags that incite violence, identifiers of other clubs, masks, face coverings or hoods are not permitted, Aprevide stated. The last time El Ciclón played with their travelling support was on April 24, when they beat Platense 1-0 with a goal from Rodrigo Auzmendi.
Julio Vaccari's side, fourth in the table with 18 points, drew 2-2 with Central Córdoba last time out. San Lorenzo sit tenth with 11 points from 10 games. Their last result was a 2-0 defeat to Boca Juniors on September 20. Their recent form reads one win, two draws and two losses from the last five outings. Across those five matches, the team has played a total of 450 minutes.
Manager Rubén Darío Insúa could field José Devecchi; Guzmán Corujo, Danilo Arboleda, Emiliano Amor, Mathias de Ritis; Facundo Farías, Nicolás Tripichio, Ezequiel Herrera, Mauricio Cardillo; Rodrigo Auzmendi and Alexis Cuello. The appointed referee is Luis Lobo Medina, assisted by Eric Grunmann and Maximiliano Castelli, with Lucas Comesaña as fourth official. ESPN Premium will broadcast the game.
San Lorenzo are 14 points behind leaders Instituto Córdoba in the league standings. The match is a key opportunity to earn three points at a ground where the last meeting, on March 16, ended in a 5-2 defeat. Following this trip to Florencio Varela, El Ciclón will host Racing Club at the Estadio Pedro Bidegain next Saturday, October 19, at 14:45.
