The Liga Profesional has confirmed Luis Lobo Medina as the main referee for San Lorenzo de Almagro's match against Defensa y Justicia this Saturday, October 3rd. The game, part of the 13th round of the Torneo Clausura, will kick off at 14:45.
Lobo Medina, a 41-year-old from Tucumán, will be assisted by Eric Grunmann and Maximiliano Castelli. Lucas Comesaña will be the fourth official, with Silvio Trucco and Joaquín Gil in charge of VAR.
The referee has a known history with El Ciclón. He has officiated San Lorenzo in five previous matches, with a record of one win, three draws, and one loss. His only victory while refereeing the Boedo side came against Barracas Central in the 2024 Liga Profesional, a match criticised for a clear penalty not awarded for a foul on Iker Muniain and a lack of red cards for harsh challenges on Elián Irala and Alexis Cuello.
He was also in charge of the clash against Godoy Cruz in the 2024 Apertura, where he did not send off Kevin Parzajuk for an elbow on Gastón Hernández. The last time he refereed San Lorenzo was in last year's Copa Argentina round of 16 against Quilmes, a match without VAR that the club won on penalties.
The appointment comes at a key moment. San Lorenzo, tenth in the Liga Profesional with 14 points, is looking for three points to close in on the playoff spots. They are coming off a narrow 1-0 win over Deportivo Riestra, with a goal from Teo Rodríguez Pagano. Forward Del Prete summed up the feeling after that victory: "We had to win, it didn't matter how or by how much."
The team is already looking ahead. After the match against Defensa y Justicia, San Lorenzo will travel to La Plata to face ninth-placed Estudiantes on Sunday, October 18th.
Regarding the squad, defenders Guzmán Corujo and Ignacio Perruzzi trained separately after the last match, according to the club's medical report. Meanwhile, president Marcelo Culotta denied rumours about his resignation and addressed employee salary payments.
